Rulebreaker Moussa Diaby Review

Finally, the Scream Promo is back!! If only that were true… but in the end, we settled for the recycling of last year's Rulebreakers Promo that does still offer some ever intriguing options.  You can tell from my squad setup that many immediately caught my eye and none more so than the currently extinct Leverkusen man, Moussa Diaby.  The massive Shooting and Passing upgrades seemed to be the perfect missing pieces, and I was hoping the upgrades would turn Diaby into a weapon on the wing in my squad.  There were some questions about my 4-2-3-1 Tactics last week and why I prefer a left footer at LAM as opposed to in the RAM position where they can utilize the cut in and finesse meta… and hopefully the video for this review will do that justice as Diaby terrorized my opponent's right-backs all weekend long.  Playing Diaby as a LAM in the 4-2-3-1 it made sense to apply the MARKSMAN chemistry style in a bid to perfect his offensive threat in the final third.  Diaby was the right-back Grim Reaper all weekend long in the following squad:

Starting Formation:

In-game Formation:

Overall

Rating: 8.5/10
Pace Rating: 9.5/10
Dribbling Rating: 9/10
Shooting Rating: 8/10
Passing Rating: 9/10
Physical Rating: 7/10
Defending Rating: N/A

When I immediately rated this card it was a 9/10 overall and I wasn’t at all concerned about backing that up… 14 goals and 7 assists across 15 matches in the LAM position! Those are outrageous numbers for me in this FIFA and it constantly felt that the goals were at key moments, in key games, and I couldn’t have been happier with this card.  However, upon really looking at the remainder of the individual rated categories it became clear that I may have been letting some of those big moments influence my opinion on the true quality of this card and slightly scaled back my excitement… but he is still so good.

Main Statistic - Pace

Pace Rating: 9.5/10
Dribbling Rating: 9/10
Height: 170cm | 5’7

When a card boasts 98 ACCELERATION & 94 SPRINT SPEED it is kind of a given that they are going to be fast.  However, you can never really predict what version of speed you will get in the end until you see them in full cry running at an opponent's backline.  In Diaby’s case, you can choose your description: rapid, quick, lightning, pelt, devastating, blazing… it doesn’t matter the word, this card fills the definition and then some.  I couldn’t believe just how quickly Diaby gets off the mark and even with a small downgrade from his NIF’s dribbling, the 88 BALL CONTROL & 93 DRIBBLING didn’t slow him down one bit.  Constantly in control, constantly moving at breakneck speed, this card is a handful to defend and a joy to use.

Main Attribute - 2 ★ Weak Foot

Weak Foot: ★★
Shooting Rating: 8/10

Two weeks running I have reserved the normally positive main attribute category for a glaring issue with an important part of FIFA success.  While Bernardo Silva’s weak foot was poor for me (some have claimed otherwise in comments of that review)... Diaby was abysmal (I can’t imagine there is one person suggesting otherwise in this case).  However, I still sat here for several minutes toying with the idea of just giving this card a 9/10 Shooting for just how amazing he is on the left.  You feel every mph/kph of the 96 SHOT POWER when unleashing with this card and the 99 FINISHING has the ball arrowing towards those open corners time after time.  In the end, I reserved the last minute of the video to just show the potency of this card in goal scoring situations… some incredibly crucial goals in often dramatic and devastating fashion.

Value/Coins & Good vs. Bad

Value/Coins Rating: 4/5
Good vs Bad Rating: 4/5

Yes, this card is extinct.  But he is not very difficult to snipe in my experience and in a minute long search just now during this review I managed to see four pop up.  With such a high return and incredibly tempting statistics, I have gone for a 4/5 for Value/Coins simply because of what will happen when he is not extinct.  This card will see a price range update… the card will temporarily go up… and then be down below 140k for eternity.  While my market knowledge is absolutely abysmal and I would never take my market advice or predictions for anything more than horse manure… a simple look at similar cards will tell you that this card will lose luster the moment it is more available.  When this happens, this card will become a 5/5 Value/Coins because anything around or below 100k for this card is silly low.

The 85 SHORT PASSING is so accurate with this card while the 82 CROSSING is on display and on point in the video.  Again these passes are made easier in the LAM position where he is using his favorite left foot and taking advantage of those very healthy Passing upgrades added to the Rulebreaker card.  Unfortunately, even a Rulebreaker promo couldn’t bend the rules on how weak this card is in game … thankfully all of the Pace and Dribbling can find spaces away from defenders… because once they lay a hand on Diaby it is game over and the ball is moving the other way up the pitch.

Closing Words

With the Bundesliga continuing to be a viable option in FIFA 22 this card looks a perfect addition to some of those squads… especially if you utilize formations with those out and out wingers.  I think it is clear just how much I enjoyed this card and the returns were spectacular… but even more importantly the performances across the weekend were top notch… I seriously don’t remember a moment where I felt like this card was anything short of a key contributor to my success.  The 2 STAR WEAK FOOT is ultimately going to turn the majority of FUT Managers away from this card before he even gets a kick and fair enough.  But I definitely noticed enough redeeming qualities to say that he deserves a run out, and like I say, after a price range update, he could even be available for a much more tempting price moving forward.  Hoping you are all well. Cheers for reading.
